The Facts about Chinese Travel Tours/groups |
The cost of local tours in China are now much lower, but sometimes these trips have problems. The tour company charges less to attract people to join, but tourists will be taken to souvenir shops where the guide and tour company will get a commission on all sales. The tour company usually doesn't pay a salary to the tour guide and all of their income comes from tourists buying souvenirs or seeing performances .
Furthermore, most of the time the tour guides have to give some of their commission back to the travel agency. If the guide has to take care of customers who don't buy anything and don't see any shows , they feel unsatisfied and may be very rude.
Wherever you are in China, this will always happen on Chinese group tours. It is a bad system, but the problem is very difficult to solve. Please remember it is still your choice to see a performance or to buy a souvenir . Please make sure you are very clear about this situation before you decide whether you will take part in a group tour or go by yourself. |

Price |
(1).We have different prices depending on the different standard of hotels. Please compare the price and decide on the type of hotel in which you would like to stay . |
(2).The price is subject to change depending on the time you reserve your tour. The room prices in JiuZhaiGou are always changing. For example, if the hotel is very busy because of a big tour group's booking, the room charge will increase. If you apply for the tour at this time, the tour price will also be expensive. Sometimes the price decreases when hotel charge become s cheaper. So even in the same group, the price travellers paid could be different. This is not only because of the differences in hotel prices, but also because of the tour price itself. |
(3).If you take part in a group tour you will have to buy insurance. The price for Chinese travellers is 5-10RMB , for foreigners it is 30RMB. So the difference is 20-25RMB. This could be one of the reasons why your price is more expensive than other tourists. |

About the hotel |
(1). There are several different levels of hotels from which to choose. For example, 2 star, 3 star and 4 star hotels. Some hotels have not applied for a proper certificate to prove that their facilities are eligible and travel agencies decide the star level, based on the facilities and services they provide. Some hotel levels can easily mislead the tourists. For example, a hpre-4 star hotelh This kind of hotel is sometimes closer to a 3 star hotel than a 4 star hotel. |
(2). The hotel star standards are different depending on the city. For example, the same level hotels in ChengDu are better than those in JiuZhaiGou, and in JiuZhaiGou are better than in ChuanZhuSi. |
(3). During peak season (during summer and autumn) 2-3 star hotels add extra beds to twin rooms and sell them as triple rooms. It is not always possible to choose who you share a room with . If you would like be the only two in a room, you would need to pay for the whole room. |
(4). We often hear complaints from customers about 2 star hotels. For example, the bed sheets weren' t changed, there was hair on the pillows , the bathroom was dirty , the toilet flush didn't work, the shower nozzle was hard to use, the rubbish wasn't cleaned up , and so on. It can happen in 3 star hotels as well, and very occasionally in 4 star hotels. |
(5). At JiuZhaiGou and ChuanZhuSi, only 5 star hotels supply hot water for 24 hours. Other hotels below 5 star supply it only at the times when it is most needed. Usually there is no fixed time. Some hotels stop providing hot water at night. |
(6). In some rural places there are only a few choices of hotels (for example ChuanZhuSi.) You may stay in a 3 star hotel even if you applied for a 4 star hotel. They just provide better rooms for 4 star hotel customers, but the hotel itself is still a 3 star level, and the lobby hall and restaurant may not be of the same standards you are used to . |
(7). The hotels you stay at will have TV, air-condition ing and bathroom. However, in some seasons they will not turn on the air-conditioner. Also , in some 2 star hotels you may not be able to control the temperature by yourself because they usually don't leave the remote control in the room. You will have to ask the hotel staff every time you need to turn it on or off. |

Please confirm the departure time at the travel desk on the evening before the tour. Usually it is between 6:00am --7:00am.
